Terms of Service (TOS)

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please check the 'I agree' checkbox and press the 'Register' button below. If you would like to cancel the registration, click here to return to the forums index.

By registering as a member of Dachsie's Bulletin Board you hereby agree to abide by the following terms of service. Incidents which violate these terms may result in corrective action depending on the circumstances. Please report any violations either to myself at admin@dachsie.org or to any other member of staff.

Any advertisements for the sale of goods, dogs, stud or mating services, or other potentially objectionable items is expressly prohibited. Violations in this regard may result in deletion of membership and banning from this site.

DBB neither offers, nor provides referrals for medical financial aid for Dachshunds. If you have joined/are joining to solicit such aid or otherwise solicit money from DBBers . . . this is prohibited, as our members and group are just regular folks, albeit Dachsie lovers, like yourself. You may PM a DBB staff member to explain your situation and perhaps we can point you in the right direction to locate such an organization, however they usually have very stringent requirements to qualify (ie; for seniors, low income or handicapped persons, etc.). We highly recommend that you discuss your need with your own vet as he/she may be aware of such assistance or can offer you a payment program.

DBB has always been an advocate and strong supporter of adoption/rescue and discourages any form of irresponsible or careless breeding of animals. Any persons whose breeding practices or facilities have resulted in complaints, investigation and conviction for cruelty or abuse such as but not limited to inadequate food or water, unsanitary living conditions, sick animals, etc. or who by their own admission are guilty of any or all of the above will have their membership deleted and be banned for life. Decisions in this regard will not be taken lightly and will require irrefutable proof. Any member wishing to point out such a person to us needs to have the proper documentation . . . which does not include rumors, statements found on the internet or *gut* feelings. The proper documentation may only consist of a document from an authorized investigating agency, on their letterhead, citing the violation and guilt of the offender. A list of registered complaints will not do . . . it must state violations/guilt. Anyone wishing to do so may scan such documents and email them to admin@dachsie.org. All such contact will be held in the strictest confidence. If the documentation withstands our close scrutiny, the person will be notified and banned from DBB.

The DBB Staff cannot possibly verify, or research, each and every breeder mentioned on the board. Therefore, we ask that links/URL's to their sites not be posted. DBB does not endorse or recommend any breeder(s).

We at DBB have worked long and hard to build our membership. Please don't use our site to harvest members for yours... do the work like we did! Harvesting our members is strictly prohibited! If we determine that's what you are doing, it will result in deletion of your membership and banning from this site.

I) Considering the real-time nature of these forums, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information before it is posted. Please remember that while we do our best to filter out any inappropriate postings, we do not actively monitor the contents of and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of Dachsie's Bulletin Board staff or any other entity associated with these forums. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email or private message. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

II) Copyright infringement. Posting of copyrighted material is not allowed without explicit permission from the copyright holder. This is actually the law and you could get in serious trouble if you violate it. Copyrighted material including avatar images should only be posted in these forums with the express permission of the owner(s) and with the appropriate copyright information either posted in full or linked to within your signature.

III) Do not use these forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, offensive to a person's religion, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. Do not use the forums to initiate or continue hostility expressed toward any staff or member; "flaming" and "flame wars" will not be tolerated. We at Dachsie's Bulletin Board reserve the right to edit, modify or delete any post made in such an event. Messages sent through the board's Private Message function cannot be directly monitored, but the same provisions still apply. Should you receive a private message that is objectionable under this part of the Terms of Service, please do not delete the message, but forward a copy to one of the senior staff using the Quote button in the message reading screen. Harassment through private messages will result in suspension of private message privileges for the sender in addition to formal warnings.

IV) It is difficult to monitor or prevent threads/posts which are argumentative, confrontational, and/or hurtful toward other DBBers... but we know them when we see them. Admins, Supermods and Moderators (the DBB staff) will delete any such threads or posts at their discretion and PM/e-mail the responsible member with the reason. Please be accepting of this as it is never done without lengthy discussions between all members of the DBB staff.

V) Our responsibility for content and yours... Although we do not and cannot review all the messages posted and are not responsible for the content of any of these messages, we reserve the right to remove objectionable content or delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dachsie's Bulletin Board or Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin), and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

VI) DBB Photo Gallery... Please adhere to the following:

  • No copywritten images
  • We have the right to remove any picture without prior notice
  • No pornographic or questionable images
  • All galleries are open to the public and can be seen without membership to the DBB, do not post any image you don't want the world to see.

VII) Do not post in all capitals or oversized text for no apparent reason. This is generally considered angry and yelling at someone, which is rude and not welcome here.

VIII) As a thread progresses, please do not stray too far from the original subject. While we try to give as much leniency as possible on this matter, if a topic goes off on too much of a tangent then the original thread may be locked and you may be requested to start a new topic.

IX) Spam. We all hate it, so let’s not contribute to spreading it. Frivolous solicitation and self-promotion is not allowed. Links to other sites that are relevant to the discussion are fine, but promoting your own or someone else’s commercial venture or competing site isn’t. This rule applies to all functions of the board, including e-mails and private messages. Dachsie's Bulletin Board does not provide free advertising space. It is at the discretion of the board owners to make the final decision as to what constitutes spam, but just use common sense and we’ll be fine. If in doubt contact the administrator.

X) Refrain from posting unnecessary one or two word responses to existing threads including but not limited to 'LOL', 'W00t' or any similar postings. If someone posts something amusing, EVERYONE in the forum does not need to respond with his or her approval. If you feel your message is necessary, please accompany your response with at least a sentence of reasonable length relating to the subject matter.

XI) While only as a very last resort, we at Dachsie's Bulletin Board also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a serious complaint or legal action arising from any message or materials posted by you.

XII) Messages located within these forums may contain outside links to other web sites and files. We have no control over the content and cannot ensure it will not be offensive or objectionable. We will, however, remove links to material that we feel is inappropriate as we become aware of them. This especially includes links to sites recommending or enabling prohibited or illegal activities, such as "warez", "serialz" and "hacking" download sites. Advocating unlawful use of otherwise legitimate sites is also prohibited.

XIII) Member signatures shall be limited to 500 characters (including spaces). In the past, there have been issues with people who post relatively small amounts of meaningful text in contrast to a very large signature, which not only is irritating but also detracts from the message of your post. Out of respect to dial-uppers, image size is limited to no more than 150 pixels high and 450 pixels wide. If your image is found to be over that size you will be asked to reduce it so that it is within the limits. If you fail to do so your image will be removed. If you need help in maintaining your image “as is”, yet reducing it to meet the requirements, please contact one of the moderators or admins.

XIV) Impersonation of either a member of the forum staff or a private individual is not permitted whatsoever. This includes but is not limited to: using another user's personalized avatar or signature, registering an account under an obviously similar username or blatantly claiming to be another user.

XV) When linking to a remote avatar, it is not permitted to "hot link" directly to the image on a server which you do not have permission to do so. Please save the image to your computer and either upload it to a free server or send it to a member of the forum staff to be hosted on this server.

XVI) We at Dachsie's Bulletin Board reserve the right to change these terms of service at any time without prior warning. Updates however will be posted in the miscellaneous forum.

Addendum

The following items described below are not violations of Dachsie's Bulletin Board Terms of Service but they represent inconsiderate or even rude behavior in some cases, and duplication of efforts on others. It is unlikely you want other people to treat you inconsiderately, so try not to be inconsiderate to others. And people will often help you at the drop of a hat, but don't assume you are entitled to it.

Although these are not violations in and of themselves, repeated infringements (especially when directed towards one recipient) may be considered a form of harassment.

The following list is not inclusive, and will be expanded as appropriate.

I) If your question is really targeted towards one person, send a Private Message. The PM button will set you up to launch a private message to the person. (Be aware that a copy of each private message is saved in your Sentbox, so clean that out regularly if you send private messages often.).

II) Use the subject field to summarize your post. Topics with non-specific phrases like "Help Me" may express how you feel, but won't necessarily attract the attention of the people who might know the answer you are seeking. Moderators reserve the right to edit your subject line for the benefit of the other forum users.

III) Got an urgent question? Remember that forums are not chat channels. It will take time for somebody who knows the answer to find and respond to your question. Many of our members are in different time zones. Allow a day to get a response as a minimum.

IV) Members are strongly encouraged to edit previous messages to add additional content if no response has been posted yet. A large EDIT button is provided for this purpose at the lower right corner of each post. Occasionally separate messages are appropriate if significant time has passed or the new material is sufficiently different from the preceding material.
